Hi Loureen, how do you think about risk?
”Simply put, without risk, there is no reward. Every time we take a leap of faith, we acknowledge that the genuine passion towards an opportunity is worth the disappointment of it not going as planned, or not happening at all. Whether it is risking time, resources, or simply confronting the fear of failure, risk has shaped my life and career journey, and will likely continue to do so! I took a risk in attending schools that were far out of my budget in terms of tuition, hoping that it would ultimately serve as a tool to help me pay it off. I am so glad”
Amid a global pandemic, recent nationwide protests and the forthcoming elections, newsrooms have been in overdrive while faced with an unprecedented amount of challenges and conundrums due to COVID-19. “Everything about how we cover news has changed,” says Carlos Granda, a veteran reporter from ABC7. To comply with CDC guidelines, journalists are adapting to new ways of reporting. “It’s such a pivotal time to be a reporter right now because in some ways we are the gatekeepers to sharing crucial information,” says Loureen Ayyoub of Spectrum News, “it’s really a sacred job that we have.”
